Spiritual Journeys Years of experience in the wilderness and research into the inner realm had led to the design of two workshops. One around Qumran and the coast of the Dead Sea, and the second in the area of Mount Sinai. Small groups of spiritual seekers are invited to contact at: vbarr@netvision.net.il
The Essenes Experience ™ A Holistic healing experience by the Dead Sea, Inspired by the Essene healing arts.
We offer a one week workshop by the Dead Sea in Israel, dedicated to the healing of the different facets of the human experience: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The Dead Sea valley offers unique healing conditions on our planet. For this reason, we believe the Essene built their center in Qumran at the north-west coast of the Dead Sea where the ”Dead Sea Scrolls” were found in several caves about fifty years ago. The workshop takes advantage of these natural healing conditions to facilitate the experience of well being and empowered self. Using this as a platform as well as an integral approach to inner work and practice, the workshop promotes an expansion into the space of Essence - the authentic presence of our being, and aims at a meaningful integration of all that is experienced into oneself.
The program treats these aspects using the following means:
Physical aspect:
Breathing - the area is about 400 meters (1312 ft.) below sea level (the lowest on earth) and high barometric pressure facilitates oxygen intake .The high rate of evaporation of Dead Sea water contributes to the presence of trace elements in the air that has a healing effect on the whole body, calming and soothing the nervous system. Bathing – a variety of options are available, all beneficial for the body: the Dead Sea salt water with 21 minerals, black mud loaded with beneficial minerals from the coast of the Dead Sea, baths with natural hot sulfur water and natural spring water containing minerals near Qumran, possibly used by the Essene for purification.
Emotional aspect:
Desert walks - the experience of silence and solitude facilitates contact with aspects of your Higher Self, which creates a safer environment for emotional release. Intuitive singing - this natural process of using intuitive vowel singing is a gentle way to release stress, and to harmonize with the group field. Conscious breathing - a conscious connected breathing process will be used to release stress and emotional trauma and enhance integration. This will be done in the salty water.
Mental aspect:
Clarity - Since we believe that clarity of mind can serve as a bridge between experience and integration, we will use part of our time to read passages from different sources and discuss them as a means to gain clarity and insights.
Spiritual aspect:
Earth healing energy -. We use basic standing meditation for this through which the feminine energy of Mother Earth is invoked and felt. At this lowest point on Earth grounding is easier and the Chi is abundant, this will enhance your general well being and helps you harmonize your higher bodies. Energy alignment - will provide you with the key into cosmic & earth healing vibration and will assist you in harmonizing and aligning Charka centers, (we use the well known "Five Tibetan Exercises"). Meditation - will be our main portal to the higher/Inner dimension, using a "just sitting" approach practiced in sacred power spots around Qumran, the scroll cave being our preferred spot; here you will experience the golden vibration of love and healing. Early morning meditation/prayer - before the first ray of light, before sunrise, this time of the day had been recognized by the Essene as a sacred hour, energizing and uplifting, this is when we will start our daily activities. After about half an hour silent walk to the ruins of Qumran, on the small plateau, facing the east, we will connect with the Essene spirit and presence. This early meditation/prayer is also a good re-harmonizer of the solar plexus and helps resolve issues anchored in this energy center. Healing chamber meditation - this will be done in what we feel is the main healing chamber in Qumran. It will provide you with powerful healing resources that can be accessed and applied in alignment with your personal needs and ability to process and integrate. An awakening into the higher mind and the impersonal realm, for those who are ready, is not unusual during this practice.
The week workshop is divided into three progressive phases: First phase: here, adding to our meditation practice we will focus on well being and empowerment using breathing exercises, energy exercises in and out of the water and absorbing energy from the elements (Air, Earth-Mud, Fire-Sun, Water) in a playful way. Second phase: being structured enough and well established within ourselves, we can start dealing with emotional release using conscious breathing as well as working with the voice using intuitive vowel singing. Third phase: time for expansion and integration, the presence of Guidance will help you integrate all that was experienced in a loving and nurturing way towards your inner growth and spiritual maturity.
